Agricultural storage and drying tents

After harvest, quality depends on temperature, humidity and air. Tent stores can be insulated and ventilated for potatoes, onions and nuts, or used for drying and growing. Work out the floor area with the crop storage calculator.

Choosing the right store

  • Potatoes and onions need ventilation and usually insulation to control temperature and humidity; see storing potatoes and onions.
  • Hazelnuts and walnuts need airflow for drying and dry, cool storage afterwards.
  • Mushrooms need stable temperature, high humidity and darkness: an insulated tent with controlled ventilation.
  • Grain in bulk pushes hard against the walls: tent walls are not designed for that, so plan concrete push walls or store in bags or big bags.

Insulated covers also reduce condensation: dripping water damages crops, so plan insulation and ventilation together.
