Hazelnut drying and processing tents
Hazelnuts must be dried quickly after harvest to stop mould and keep the kernels' quality. A tent with good airflow and a translucent roof gives a dry, covered drying floor, and later a store for sacks or bulk nuts.

Typical uses
- Drying freshly harvested hazelnuts
- Sorting and cleaning
- Storage in sacks or big bags
- Machinery for husking and cleaning

Planning tips
Airflow over the drying floor
Open side walls, ridge vents or fans keep moist air moving out of the hall.
Keep rain out completely
A fully closed cover protects nuts from rain and dew, unlike open-air drying.
Plan for machines
Leave space and power for husking, cleaning and sorting machines.
Frequently asked questions
How much space do I need for hazelnut drying?
+
It depends on the layer thickness and drying method. For storage in shell, the crop storage calculator uses about 0.4 t/m³ as a planning density.
