Potato and onion storage tents

Planning tips
Size by tonnes and pile height
Potatoes are usually stored in bulk piles of about 3–4 m with ventilation ducts underneath; onions lower. The crop storage calculator gives the floor area.
Plan airflow
Fans, air inlets and ducts must move air through the pile, not just over it. Agree the ventilation design with the manufacturer or your storage adviser.
Stop condensation
Warm, humid air under a cold roof drips onto the crop. Insulation, ventilation and avoiding warm air inflow prevent it.

Can potatoes be stored in an uninsulated tent?

Only short term or in mild weather. For storage through winter and spring, insulation and controlled ventilation are needed to keep temperature and humidity in range.
Can one store hold potatoes and onions?

They need different conditions: potatoes high humidity, onions dry air. Separate rooms or separate stores work better.
