What is a tent hall?
A tent hall, also called an industrial tent, storage tent or temporary building, is a demountable building made of steel frames covered with a tensioned membrane. It gives large, column-free spaces quickly and can be moved, extended or sold later.
How it is built
- Frames: arches of galvanised steel, either single tube or lattice truss, standing at regular intervals (bays) of about 4–6 m.
- Purlins and bracing: connect the frames lengthways and make the structure stable.
- Membrane: PVC-coated polyester fabric, tensioned over the frames for the roof and walls.
- Gables: the end walls, with large doors.
- Anchoring: bolts into a concrete slab, foundation blocks, or ground anchors.
Types
- By roof shape: barrel vault (round), gable roof with a bend at the eave, high dome for more height.
- By frame: single tube for smaller spans, truss frames for wide spans and high loads.
- By cover: single membrane, translucent strips, or double membrane with insulation.
- Single or multi-span: several halls side by side under connected roofs.
