How to add warehouse space fast
When the warehouse is full, there are five common ways out. The right one depends on how long you need the space, how much you need, and what is next to your building.
1. Optimise what you have
Better racking, higher stacking, narrower aisles and clearing out slow stock can free 10–30 % of space. It is cheap but limited.
2. Rent space elsewhere
Fast if there is space on the market, but you pay rent, double handling and transport, and you lose control over the stock.
3. Containers
Good for small volumes and secure storage. For larger volumes they get expensive per m², and there is no clear-span space for forklifts. See storage tent vs containers.
4. Temporary warehouse tent
Hundreds or thousands of m² next to your building, typically within weeks, extendable and movable. The best fit for months to years of extra space. See temporary warehouse.
5. Build permanently
The right long-term answer for permanent growth, but permits and construction take months to years. A tent hall often bridges the gap.
